Question by A_247: Is an appraisal on new home required to obtain home insurance?
I am buying a home that is owned by Fannie Mae and is not going to be required to have an appraisal because I am financing through Fannie Mae Homepath. However I heard that when you shop for home insurance that they usually ask for appraisal information. Being I am not having an appraisal is it going to be difficult to get home insurance?

I would say usually so, maybe the only exception would be while a new home was still under construction.
