Question by : How does online shopping scams affect consumer decisions?

Best answer:

Answer by Erik Nostin
That’s hard to tell in the current economy. Harder times usually drive internet sales higher due to the availability of cheaper consumer products thanks to being able to comparison shop far more quickly and effectively. It can be reasonably assumed, though not statistically verified, that consumers are driven away by the threat of scams. However, to really argue any kind of point about the online consumer and their responses to online shopping scams has to be statistically evaluated to prove the effects. Also, correlation does not necessarily dictate causation. Increasing internet activity can actually correspond with increasing shopping scams, as more and more people turn to the internet to shop, and the scams therefore multiply over the years as potential criminals realize the value of this kind of crime.
