Question by : Why do people in church say God will provide if we have faith when millions of homeless people are suffering?
This sounds nice and comforting. However, why are there so many miserable people out there then? When I lost my job, many of my christian friends said “It’s only a phase, and a tribulation. It will pass. Just rest in God, for when the world closes doors, God opens up new ones.”
But then walking in the downtown area of my city, I saw a some messed up images. I live in a city in Brazil, which is a third world country and I saw some things you’d probable never see in America or Europe. I saw in the middle of the sidewalk a man with polio in his legs, and blind. begging for money with his hands raising up whenever he could perceive with his limited vision when a person passed by. (What a really messed up situation for him.)
I also saw a one-legged woman with many sore boils in her skin due probably due to lack of hygiene sitting in front of the local bank to have people give her spare coins. (these were the worst examples I saw but there were others as well)
So, why should I expect God to solve my situation of being unemployed when there are a million other and there are no miracles happening to give them prosperous lives.
I’m no better than these homeless people, I’m just as sinful as they are looking at a christian perspective. So why should I be confident that God will work out the circunstances so as to make me blessed in my financial life when many other people barely have any food to eat???
