Question by Toria: Does anyone know how to claim INDEPENDENCE from your parents for FAFSA financial aid and college purposes??
My father told me that if i claim independence then i might be able to get more financial aid. my parents incomes are too high for anything and everything so i dont think it would be any different here. But unfortunetely I have siblings who need to go to school too so college is a big expense. Does anyone know how to claim independence so that i will be eligible for financial aid?? i plan to go to Eastern Michigan University… (if that means anything)

you can only be independent if you are 24 yrs old, married, any age with a child, or claim a some kind of dependent. that’s the only way. unless u lie about it. extenuating circumstances.
