Question by dartagnon p: So, if prayer does not work and is useless, HAVE I BEEN CREATING these miracles myself?
Ok! I recently put up a question asking if we should pray and several enlightened souls said that prayer is useless.
So, when the two cars hit each other and ONE of them was sent hurtling at my car … and I sent up a quick prayer … and suddenly an invisible arm blocked the car from hitting mine and bounced it over about two feet, and it missed my car by INCHES, YOU are saying that I somehow created the energy that was used to do this?
And when General Eisenhower needed clear skies to get air cover in to protect the troops in one of the last battles of WWII, but at the time the skies were FILLED with clouds, that his prayers were NOT what cleared the skies miraculously, but rather it was HIS THOUGHTS that cleared those skies, or maybe it was just “good luck” tht cleared them?
And when I had 8 bone chips in my knee from twisting it and I prayed that they would disappear, after the doc confirmed they were there with an x-ray … that 2 weeks later when he did a followup x-ray and they were “miraculously gone” (as Doctor Stein confirmed while he was white in the face and stammering in disbelief) … that THIS WAS MY MIND WILLING THE CHIPS TO LEAVE?
And when I was run over by a car while on my mtn bike and tossed 50 feet over a parked car and fractured my knee cap and severed my internal cruciate ligament (I’m not a doc so I’m trying to get this right but if it’s not medically correct at least you get the idea of what I’m trying to explain, I hope) as my knee hit the edge of the concrete curb … was it me or “God” who repaired my severed ligament when I joined Oral Roberts in a prayer as he described my knee on TV, and at the same time my knee got REALLY warm and the next morning it was fine, or was it me? My doc said tht miracles do NOT happen and that if I rode my mtn bike or snow skied that my knee would be RIPPED from the socket and be hanging there by the skin and the two remaining ligaments if they were not also severed in the event … and yet I rode my mtn bike up 2200 feet on Mt Toro in Salinas and then did all the Double Diamonds at Dodge Ridge … with NO pain to my bad knee. AND that ever since then the docs have asked me why my knee has this odd lump of bone protruding slightly from it. Am I wrong in saying that God put that lump there as he repaired the severed part or was it MY MIND OVER MATTER expertise that caused the healing.
I have actually been questioning these things in the last couple of years ever since I joined the Yahoo Empath group and found out from an online test that I am a “Faith Healer”.
One last question … when I walk under street lights at night they mysteriously shut off until I am about half a block away and then they come back on. I always thought that it was God playing games with me but many say that it is b/c I’m an empath and it happens to all of us empaths.
And WHO keeps leaving pennies outside my car after I have gone into a store so that I can see them when I get back but KNOW they were not there when I left my car. Whoever does it seems to almost always leave them “heads down” so that no one else will picks them up (bad luck and all, you know). One day as I was walking with a friend in Santa Cruz I picked up a penny off the sidewalk and told him that God wants me to pick them up so that He knows I need the money and then can leave me LARGER amounts elsewhere. We both chuckled but on the next block there was a $ 5 bill crumpled up and waiting for me. I gave it to my friend since he was down on his luck at the time. ( I admit that last one could should and would be a coincidence … but it has never happened to me before or after in my 60 years on this planet so WAS IT REALLY coincidence or God letting me know that He was there for me?
OK … end of sermon. PLEASE enlighten me as to WHAT THE HELL … or what the HEAVEN … is causing this stuff? I know we all have the power to manifest these things into reality but doesn’t God have just a little bit of a hand in all this as well?
“Should any two of you ask for ANYTHING in My Name (Jesus is talking in the bible) … it shall be given you.” “You can move mountains … if it is your desire”. (paraphrased for ease so I don’t have to look up the exact quotes … many of you know them already).
Or is it “What the mind believes … you can achieve”?
I must warn you … as if you CARE … that I will STILL believe in the “Creator God of Right and Might who Never Gets Uptight” and Jesus Christ will still be my closest imaginary friend …. no matter what you all say … but I will listen intently and honor your opinions and NEVER give you a thumbs down even though I am often tempted to do so, but have never actually done it. Kewlness??? OK … let me HAVE IT! (raising arm to protect from the slings and arrows and tomatoes and squash)

Sorry. I stopped reading at “invisible arm.”
All religions are cults. All of them. Any organized group that recognizes the existence of magic, mysticism, and the supernatural, and indoctrinates others into similar beliefs, is a cult. Period. I oppose religion because it harms the human intellect, teaches people to accept falsehoods as truths, and in many cases attempts to impose those beliefs on society.
