Stop Paying Your Mortgage! CEPersVid-2; What precentage of mortgage interest is refunded in taxes<?

Why a homeowner or other mortgagor in NY and other judicial-foreclosure states should stop paying the mortgage if financial difficulty is expected in 6 months, invite a foreclosure action, defend the action timely and vigorously (at low cost), and use the extended time to obtain a reasonable modification agreement or find a buyer to get any of your equity out of the property (by not having to sell at a distress sale).

Question by TM W: What precentage of mortgage interest is refunded in taxes
So Far this year I have paid over fifteen thousand dollars in interest on my mortgage. Is there a certain percentage that is refunded when I do my taxes? Also, are closing costs refundable too?

Mortgage interest is not refunded. You have to complete a Schedule A and when you get your 1098 statement from your lender at the end of the year you put all of your mortgage interest on line 10 (Schedule A). More than likely you will be able to take the itemized deduction verses the standard deduction. You can not take both. You will be filing a long 1040 form as well since you will be using a Schedule A.

Question by : Can I opt out of an employer’s health insurance coverage if they stop paying their share of it?
In January, my employer is making me pay for 100% of my health insurance. They also dropped vision and dental. I am one of the only young people in the firm, and I don’t want to be forced to pay a higher premium for reduced coverage. I quoted the most comprehensive plan I could find for me as an individual (including vision/dental), and it’s $ 200 less a month. Can I drop the firm’s insurance and just get my own?

It really depends on what your contract stated. Some companies force you to stay with their benefits and coverage for a year, and you cannot drop that until the enrollment comes around.
